Truly Meaningful Ways to Show Your Patriotism in Divided Times

The environment and society we grow up in shapes our values and beliefs.
As Americans, we’ve been raised to believe in freedom of speech, equality, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These values mean different things to different Americans but the core beliefs remain the same.
The United States of America is a melting pot of different cultures. Growing up and being surrounded by different cultures, values, and religions has taught us to respect each other.
Why don’t we dedicate this month to showing appreciation for our great nation?
Here are a few simple ways we can show our love for our country:
Support Veterans and Active-Duty Military
Our veterans and active-duty soldiers are the backbone of our country. They’ve put their lives on the line to make sure we can live ours freely. They’ve given up their tomorrow so we can live today.
Spend a day with a veteran and get to know them personally. Get to know their story. There’s nothing better than being inspired by the resilience and discipline that veterans have practiced in their life.
Show your love and appreciation for active-duty soldiers as well. You can donate to charities like the American Freedom Foundation, Freedom Service Dogs, and the Army Emergency Relief.
Buy Local Products
Support local farmers and companies by buying locally-produced goods. This will also help contribute to the economy and help small enterprises flourish. There are plenty of retail stores that sell products made in the U.S.
Make sure to visit the farmer’s market next time you need to shop for groceries. The products found at the local farmer’s market are fresh and pesticide-free. Besides, it’s a great way to support small businesses that are looking to bring their best to American homes and families.
Train Therapy Dogs
Adopting and training therapy dogs is a great way to show appreciation for the soldiers and veterans of our country. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our nation.
If you’re not comfortable adopting an adult dog, you can volunteer at the local shelter or adopt a puppy.
Fly the American Flag
And last but not least, the best way to show patriotism is to hoist the flag of your country!
You don’t have to wait for Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Flag Day to show your love for your country. You can fly the U.S. flag any day and every day.
Make sure to follow theFederal Flag Codeto learn about the right way to fly the flag.
